Safety is Nothing to Play With
You've likely put a lot of time, energy and money into choosing your playground equipment, designers and installers. It doesn't stop there. Now it's time to establish your Standard of Care. Have a 3rd party inspector Audit the playground and help develop a Comprehensive Maintenance Plan (with regular inspections, maintenance & cleaning) that will not only protect your investment but protect the children using it while decreasing your communities liability.
Inspect
A highly detailed audit of not only your playground equipment but of the entire play environment to determine its compliance with the industry standards & guidelines set forth by the CPSC & ASTM (American Society for Testing Materials).
Once all of the hazardous and non-compliant conditions identified in the initial audit are corrected or correction is in the works, and we have established your playground Standard of Care, inspections will be performed on a regularly scheduled basis to identify any new and / or reoccurring hazardous and non-compliant conditions on the play equipment or surfacing material. We'll check for hazards, and evaluate each piece of equipment's performance & integrity as well as the condition of the safety surfacing.
Correct
Studies have proven that playground equipment has been found to be one of most contaminated public areas in the US even higher than public restrooms thus it is critical that they be cleaned on a regular basis.
We will pressure wash and / or soft-wash all equipment and benches, tables, trash cans etc. and perform graffiti removal as necessary with each high-frequency inspection. An example of some of the benefits of this procedure are removing graffiti, pollen, disease ridden bird droppings, insect/bee/wasp nests, algae, mold, bacteria and all sorts of contagious pathogens that have been commonly found on playground equipment that is not being cleaned on a regular basis.
Protect
Once the inspection process is underway and issues that are potentially hazardous or non-compliant have been identified, maintenance repairs may need to be made. This could include replacing missing hardware, tightening loose hardware, replacing damaged swing seats, broken or vandalized parts, etc. Many of these tasks may be able to be performed at the time of inspection.
Those issues that cannot be remedied on the spot will be addressed ASAP with a proposal or a recommendation for how best to achieve resolution. Each time we visit for a high-frequency inspection we will rake & redistribute safety surfacing under swings & slides, tighten any loose hardware (if possible), hammer in protruding border spikes, clean up trash and debris in & around the play area.
*There may be some manufacturer's equipment that we cannot perform maintenance on. If so we'll advise and put you in touch with the appropriate representative of the company for assistance.
*Some repairs may accrue an extra charge such as replacing swing seats, chain or hardware, replacing missing hardware, etc. If basic maintenance repairs standard pricing is not pre-approved by owner then we'll notify you before any such extra work is performed.

Recordkeeping
Recordkeeping is a huge aspect of any good CMP and it begins the moment the playground is installed. Keep records of your contract agreement, the manufacturers & installers involved, certifications and manufacturer warranties and maintenance instructions, and of your Audit and all inspections thereafter. Record hazards that have been identified and corrections made. Track any injuries that occured at the site and actions taken, if any. Keeping good records is an essential part of any good CMP and Playground Patrol can help you get started or improve your existing system.
